New laws for the repayment of Trade Support Loans and Higher Education Loan Programme debt

Dear Mrs Loice Njanja

As you may be aware, new laws for the repayment of Trade Support Loan (TSL) and Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP) debt are now in force. Until now, people who took out a loan and moved overseas did not have to repay their debt as long as they remained offshore.

Please assist us in circulating information about the obligations regarding Trade Support Loan repayments.  A digital resource kit is available to download from the Australian Apprenticeships website which contains:
  • a news article regarding the changes
  • web tiles to download and upload to your website
  • a fact sheet which may be downloaded and distributed to apprentices, and
  • suggested social media posts.
The Department of Education and Training and Australian Apprenticeship websites have information regarding the new obligations, visit http://www.education.gov.au/trade-support-loans or http://www.australianapprenticeships.gov.au/content/trade-support-loans

Thank you in advance for your help in raising awareness about the new repayment obligations.

Yours Sincerely

Brendan Morling
