Upon successful course completion students will be awarded the nationally recognised Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nursing), which will enable them to seek registration with AHPRA and practice as an Enrolled Nurse in the health care sector across Australia..

The Diploma of Nursing course takes approximately 18 months. This time frame includes class time and clinical placement. On average a learner should allocate 20 hours/week for learning and assessments.

Minimum tuition fees for Indigenous students

Under the Indigenous Completions Initiative, all enrolments undertaken by Indigenous students will be charged at the concession rate. This includes Diploma programs.

NOTE: Victorian Training Guarantee(VTG) is a subsidised training scheme through the Victorian Government. It is available to eligible residents in Victoria.

If you are eligible for VTG funding and if you complete the course(HLT51612 Diploma of Nursing), the value of the government contribution will be approximately $11,424.00

Funding Entitlements

Students in Victoria who qualify for government funding are only allowed to undertake 2 courses at the same level in their lifetime with the exclusion of:

  1. the Victorian Certificate of Education; Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (Intermediate or Senior); International Baccalaureate Diploma; and senior secondary school certificates from other Australian jurisdictions;
  2. qualifications listed in the Foundation Skills List (Attachment 1 to these Guidelines);
  3. any VET certificates undertaken as part of a senior secondary qualification (including School Based Apprenticeships/Traineeships);
  4. where an individual is transitioning from a superseded qualification to the current version of the same qualification; and
  5. Where an individual is recommencing training in the same qualification (at either the same or a different provider).

Admission Requirements

  • For this qualification, applicants are required to have completed their Certificate III in Aged Care or have completed secondary schooling (year 12) or have at least two years experience in a closely related field or mature age entry
  • All applicants must pass the literacy and numeracy assessment and attend an interview
  • VETASSES preparation sessions will be offered for a competitive fee to interested JTI applicants.
  • Interviews will be organised for all prospective students who have passed the VETASSESS.
  • Prospective students must be physically and mentally fit to provide nursing care and must be a fit and proper person to be eligible for registration with AHPRA
  • Applicants must have a current National Police Clearance for the Clinical Placement
  • Depending on the chosen elective units, a Working with Children Permit will be required.
  • Successful applicants must have up to date Immunisations as per the Departments of Health requirements, prior commencing the Clinical Placement.

Work Placement Program

Work placement is not optional; this course includes a compulsory number of hours of practical placement.

We understand the industry and understand the effort in finding Clinical Placement, at JTI we will organise the Clinical Placements for all our Nursing students

To attain your Diploma of Nursing you must complete both theory assessments and Clinical Placement.
There are certain requirements before attending work placement; you will be advised of these by your trainer.

Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning is the process that recognises a student’s current skills and experience, regardless of where and when the learning occurred. Students may have existing knowledge and skills and these could be formally recognised and credited towards a qualification from JTI. For further information on RPL, please click here.

Assessment Submission

Assessments can be submitted via face to face classes or the online learning environment.Face to face students submit their assessments to their trainer in class while Online students submit their work online. Online students can submit assignments from the comfort of their home and receive assistance from qualified trainers, assessors and IT staff. Support is provided online through email, chat lines, live classes and via the telephone.

Face to Face Class

Our face-to-face learning is delivered at several sites which are located in Melbourne (Dandenong or Sunshine). Classes are held regularly at various campuses in Melbourne. Campus timetables are provided on request.

Delivery Venue

This course will be delivered at one of our campuses or a hired venue. Some students may take the option of attending weekly online classes. Work placement is undertaken at various industry facilities that are not related to Job Training Institute, hence, we are unable to guarantee work placement at a specific facility. Students will be advised of the venue of their work placement that they must attend as their course progresses.

Third Party Arrangements

Job Training Institute does not deliver this course through third party arrangements. We use brokers or agents for recruitment of students, but not for training.

Support Services Available

JTI is committed to ensuring that all students receive adequate learning support to ensure their full potential is reached, therefore, JTI ensures that:

  • The learning and support needs of all students is assessed upon entry into a course.
  • All students are aware of how to access the services they require to successfully complete their course.
  • Feedback is collected about JTI's provision of support services and the feedback is systematically collated, analysed and used to improve training services.

Support services available to all JTI students include:

  • The trainer is normally the first point of support. If the student is struggling with any training issues, or anything to do with their results and feedback, they should talk to their trainer for assistance.

What distinguishes us from other RTO:

  • Flexibility - Job Training Institute offers learning flexibility to students through blended learning of face-to-face and online modes. All our students have the choice of combining the two modes of learning.
  • Work Placement – Job Training Institute facilitates Work Placement for its students and a Work Placement Coordinator is always in handy to assist students with any work placement issues.
  • Student Support – Our trainers are always available and willing to assist students with their studies and assignments via several methods ranging from chat, email, phone calls, and walk-in among others. Job Training Institute offers students weekly live online classes moderated by our skilled and seasoned trainers. We provide students with support in planning their individual learning plans.

Job Training Institute is responsible for the quality of the training and assessment in compliance with VET standards, and for the issuance of the AQF certification documentation.

JTI does not guarantee the following:

  1. That a learner will successfully complete a training product on our scope of registration. Learners need to put effort in their study and completion of assignments and JTI will provide the trainers and required resources to enable the learner successfully complete their study.
  2. A training product can be completed in a manner which does not meet the requirements of clause 1.1 and 1.2 of VET standards 2015 e.g in a shorter period of time that the AQF specifications.
  3. A learner will obtain a particular employment outcome where this is outside the control of JTI. JTI is a training organisation and has no control of employment outcomes.
